A New Year Catch-Up & The Olney Vintage Jumble

The Doors Open At 11am

After a break from blogging over Christmas and the New Year I have lots of catching up to do but before I begin to attempt this let me draw your attention to the first ever Olney Vintage Jumble. It is taking place in St Peter & St Paul's Church Hall on Saturday (which is where we hold the Olney Vintage Fair).

The Northampton Vintage Jumble 

The Northampton Vintage Jumble took place at St Matthew's on 11th January. The stalls filled the rooms inside the church rooms and some stall holders even set-up outside and there were bargains galore.

Some Jumble We Took Along

The tables were piled high with original vintage and handmade and everything was sold at reduced cost, there was a great atmosphere and there appeared to be lots of happy vintage shoppers leaving the jumble with their arms and bags full of all sorts of things. I spotted a very elaborate light disappearing across the lawn at one point.

Our Jumble Finds

We found an interesting collection of things including the lovely quilt, knitting basket and light-shade, all are decorated with roses. I have painted the stool white and used some Cath Kidston oil-cloth fabric  to cover the seat.

Kitchenalia At The Jumble

Claire brought along some really colourful kitchen items, as well as the light shade with roses which we returned home with, and will be joining us again at the Olney Jumble on Saturday.

Mangle Magic From The Nostalgic Kitchen

Vicky from the Nostalgic Kitchen brought along this super mangle, it has a lovely 'foldaway' white enamel top and it did not take long for it to find a new home!

St Matthew's Northampton

The winter sun was still shining when I set off to take down the bunting that stretched all around the church garden and felt pleased that our 'vintage year' had started so well.

The Market Harborough Christmas Vintage fair

I must mention the Market Harborough Fair from before Christmas, there were some lovely stalls many thanks to friends of the fair who came along dressed immaculately in original period clothing. The dates for the Market Harborough Fair will be announced soon.

Parties & Entertaining - Vintage Style

Vicky (Nostalgic Kitchen) always sells with us when we visit Market Harborough and always brings some great things to the fair, the 60s table is perfect for a retro dining and  the party dining suggestions have a distinctly 70s flavour.

Vintage Upcycling

I have been busy working on few pieces which I took down to Brackley Antique Cellar last weekend. The yellow chair is an Ercol Windsor chair, the company began in the 1920s and they continued to produce traditional furniture alongside the more modern pieces which have become so popular.

Pretty Mid-Century Barkcloth

The piece of barkcloth came to us from Vicky Loves Vintage, Vicky has a unit at Brackley and she always has some lovely textiles and ceramics to choose from. I used the barkcloth to line the drawer of a sewing box which I had painted using "Antoinette" by Annie Sloane. It will appear on Unit 60 at Brackley when I next visit. I also found a lovely old annual titled "The Rose Book For Girls", it is nearly one hundred years old yet it is in perfect condition.

Olney also has a nice antique centre, it is only a few yards walk from where the Church Hall (where the   Vintage Jumble will be taking place. I popped in when I visited Olney yesterday and particularly liked this little cart.

On my way to Olney I popped into Sugden & Daughters whose shop in The Barn at the Red Lion in Yardley Hastings is full of pieces large and small for lovers of 'country' inspired vintage and interiors.
