Three Hens, A Few Shires & 'Vintage in the Park'

 Just In Time For Easter

This colourful lady quickly made herself at home after being rescued from the Cath Kidston outlet in   St Neots last Saturday.
The adventure began mid-morning when I called into our local Italian deli and tea-room (it is well worth a visit ).

Lovely Pastries - Traditional Italian Treats

I spotted the cakes as soon as I walked in and ordered a cup of Earl Grey and soon found myself enjoying an eclair filled with fresh chocolate custard. I  noticed a very cute pair of salt and pepper pots sitting on the table (turning them over revealed their origin) and a quick chat with the friendly proprietor Adriana set the plan in motion.

Hens & Vintage

I left shortly afterwards and contacted the store and arranged to pick up the last remaining pair of hens later that afternoon. It was bitterly cold outside when we drove over to Cambridgeshire but when we arrived the shop was warm and very busy, hardly surprising as the place is full of great bargains for Cath Kidston fans.

On Tuesday we set off for 'Bargains of Yesteryear' which take place in Nuneaton in Warwickshire, we arrived late and were really pleased when we found a lovely old Ludo set.

Spears Games (30s or 40s)

Next we headed over to Hinckley in Leicestershire to visit Vintage Treasures, a must see destination for lovers of original vintage homewares, the pretty shop is full of well chosen original vintage pieces and has been deservedly nominated for this years Homes & Antiques Awards.

The owner Carole sources pieces from the UK, France and beyond and will be selling with us when we visit Leamington Spa in April.

Vintage Treasures - Kitchenalia & Ceramics

Part of the appeal of  many original vintage wares is that they are still entirely functional. This lovely french enamel washing set set would look great in a vintage utility room.

We left with some lovely finds especially this little "Blue Bird" Toffee tin from the 40s which bears the inscription "Take the Home Sweet Home".

A View Of Old England

It has been such a long winter that  glimpses of summer offered by these old books meant that they had to return home with us too.

A Must For Suburban Gardens

Chrysanths, Pinks and Sweet Peas were very popular flowers during the 30s and 40s, they are easy to grow, create a nostalgic feel in any garden and look great in a vase.

Mums & Pinks

Wednesday morning arrived and so did our delivery of Pretty Nostalgic magazine, it will be available at 'Vintage in the Park'.

I called into Antiquities later in the day, it is a smart little shop with friendly staff who were happy to display our poster in their window, it is situated in the town centre area of Northampton.

Antiquities - 45 St Giles Street - Northampton

We are busy preparing for 'Vintage in the Park', our special Easter Vintage Fair which is taking place next week in Abington Park Museum in Northampton.

'Vintage in the Park' Is Listed!

Alice, who joined us at the Vintage Jumble in January will be with us again, subscriptions to the popular magazine will be available (as will the opportunity to get your photo taken and perhaps appear on Homes & Antiques website). Tea and cakes will be available in an 'old style' tea-room and the stalls will be set out all around the museum.

See You At The Fair

Best wishes and see you at the fair.
